Mid Season Check In; Men's Platinum Division Reserves

In a new division this year and under the leadership of new Head Coach, Justin Hazelton, the Reds (Platinum Division Reserves) have had a mixed start to the year with some fantastic wins and heartbreaking losses.

The Reds team has had a mixed start to the season, after being promoted from Division 2 where they played in 2022 to Platinum Division Reserves.

The Reds are definitely beginning to find their team chemistry, which has resulted in them becoming a more consistent and high performing team- they’ll be looking to continue to build on this moving into the second half of the season.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON SO FAR

Round 1 against the Platinums competition benchmark team, South West Sydney, filled the teams wind with sails early as they held on in a tight last quarter. Seniors debut’s from some familiar Sydney Uni family names in Dom Gibbins and Joe Dyster as well as several young college boys joining the team has also been a highlight and has given the Reds plenty of run and attack on the footy in the season so far.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

With Uni Holidays and Europe calling many of the players over, keeping their form and structure as they manage a high volume of personnel changes will be critical to the Reds.

KEY GAMES TO WATCH FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

South West Sydney – June 24 @ Oval No.1
Southern Power – July 29 @ Oval No.1

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

Ollie Young is certainly one to watch, look out for him kicking bags and sneaking up the leading goal scorer ladder.
Peter Schmidt is another to keep an eye on, he’ll be getting plenty of ball in the midfield and leading from the front.

Head Coach, Justin is proud of how his team has risen to the challenge of being in a new division: “All in all, joining a new comp has been a challenge that we’ve risen to. We are learning from our losses and not resting on our wins, the team is hungry and after narrowly losing to equal comp leaders North Shore, we’re full of belief that we will be peaking at the right time of the year to really have a crack at a flag.”

Men’s Platinum Division Reserves play their next match on Saturday 17th June, 12pm @ Sydney Uni Oval 1 vs Macquarie Uni. View their full fixture and ladder details HERE
