Peter Ramus Cup - Round 4 / 5 Fixtures

Rounds 4 and 5 see the club in action across Sydney this weekend, following strong results across the program with multiple wins and clear momentum building across both home and away sides. The round is highlighted by the Peter Ramus Cup at Picken Oval, recognising the enduring contribution of a figure who shaped both Sydney University and Inner West Magpies.

The Growthbuilt Sydney University Australian National Football Club enters Rounds 4 and 5 this ANZAC weekend, with fixtures spread across Sydney as squads build on early-season form. Our Premier sides travel to face the Inner West Magpies and Parramatta Goannas, while multiple grades continue a full schedule of competition across the weekend.

A key feature of the round is the Peter Ramus Cup, contested between Sydney University and Inner West Magpies at Picken Oval. The fixture carries weight beyond the result, honouring a figure whose impact shaped both clubs over decades.

Peter Ramus, known as “Branch”, served the University club for over 40 years. His contribution spanned player, captain, coach, and long-serving official roles. His influence extended beyond the University, driving junior development in Sydney’s inner west through his leadership with Western Suburbs.

The Cup reflects this dual legacy. Both clubs chose to recognise contribution, service, and sustained impact on the game. Ramus built programs, developed players, and strengthened community links. His work created pathways that still underpin both clubs.

This weekend’s clash at Picken Oval continues that recognition. Each year, the fixture brings together past and present players, families, and supporters connected through his influence. The contest carries competitive edge, but also reinforces the standards and values he set.

Sydney University will look to produce strong performances across all grades, with a focus on consistency and momentum. The Peter Ramus Cup stands as a focal point of the round, linking out current squads to the history and people who helped build the club.

Friends and past players are warmly invited to attend the Peter Ramus Cup fixture at 1:00pm at Picken Oval.
