SUANFC Welcomes Jack Dimery

Jack Dimery will pull on the blue and gold hoops for season 2017 after this year’s Phelan Medalist agreed to return to NEAFL football with Sydney University.

Previously playing with the East Coast Eagles, Dimery is no stranger to NEAFL football, playing over 50 games during their 3-year stint in the NEAFL (2012, 2013, 2014).

At the end of this season, Dimery had accumulated over 250 games for the Eagles in his 9 years at the Club, including 4 premierships and a cameo on reality TV show The Recruit.

First-year NEAFL Senior Coach Tom Morrison spoke highly of Dimery and the impact he sees him having in 2017 for the Students.

“We are really pleased that Jack has joined the SUANFC NEAFL program for 2017” said Morrison.

“Jack is a local Sydney talent and a quality young man who has developed his craft with the East Coast Eagles and through various Sydney representative programs. He was also a Geelong Cats scholarship holder and finished in the top 6 of The Recruit TV Series earlier this year.”

“Jack has had a breakout year, performing well on The Recruit, dominating the Sydney AFL competition, winning a Premiership as well as the Phelan Medal and was best on ground in the Sydney AFL representative game against Canberra.”

“Jack’s work ethic, football smarts and quality ball use have been evident in the pre-season sessions to date. I am excited to see what he can add to the group as well as watch him further develop into a quality NEAFL footballer because he clearly has many attributes that would be attractive to AFL clubs.”
