Tim Driscoll Medal Contender: Jake Derickx

SUANFC power forward Jake Derickx once again spearheaded the Students’ forward line in a stellar 2016 season.

The 2014 Driscoll Medalist enjoyed his best season in front of goal since moving from WA to Sydney in 2013, kicking 49 goals in 20 games.

Named in the best 8 times, Derickx also averaged 6 marks a game to go along with his impressive 64% goalkicking efficiency rate (higher than Jack Riewoldt, Jack Gunston and Taylor Walker).

Rewarded for his superb season, Derickx was named in his second NEAFL Team of the Year following his 2014 nomination.

2016 SUANFC NEAFL co-captain Tom Young spoke about the Derickx’s impact in the 2016 season.

“Jake is a loved member of the team, who probably plays one of the toughest roles in the team” said Young.

“Consistently getting the opposition’s best defender, Jake always competes against two and sometimes 3 blokes.”

“He had a great year plucking huge contested marks and couldn’t miss in front of goal.”

With the Timothy Driscoll Medal Vote Count & Dinner less than 1 week away, SUANFC will be posting daily stories about the coveted night, such as profiles of Driscoll Medal contenders, and updates surrounding special guests and ticket information.
