Womens Division 2: Round 2 Recap

Back in Round 2, the Womens Div 2 team headed out to Weldon Oval to take on Manly. Tanika Robertson takes you back to what to relive all the action:

Coming off a First Round win, the Div 2’s were firing and ready from the get go!
A surf comp on the iconic Northern Beaches had most of our squad departing 3 hours early for the 30* minute drive. An early pitch inspection from Coach Chomps (Melissa Khoury) gave us our game plan. Straight down the middle!
We were out of the gates fast. The heavens opened up in the mid field and the 50 at Manly felt as close as UNSW’s 50. Clearance courtesy of our mid-field dominance- great taps by Eloise Kneebone and speedy plays from Abbey Hindle.

Our forwards were firing and combining, Amy O’Reilly with specie marks and follow through goals! Emma Gelsomino darting and weaving and Mary Hutchinson with fast runs down the side. Handballs and consecutive marks down the park put us a mile ahead of the pack.

Quarter time and we were up by 30** or so.
Not sure who laced our halftime oranges but we fell asleep in the premiership quarter… however Manly’s comeback woke us up!
The turnaround… shone the light on our defensive wall. Siobhan Moran’s sticky hands took plenty of marks and Ella Goldsmith smashed the opposition with Wallaroo type tackles. Manly were shaking in their boots. Their trainer now screaming coaching instructions on field…
The sore heads came before our upcoming Ladies Day celebrations with star mid field defender Grace taking an unruly knock to the head. She joined Margot Alais in the ever-growing concussion ward.
As the clock ticked down, our score board ticked up!
The highlight of the match came with our Skip Kate Warnock promoted to the forward line…. And within minutes scoring a birthday goal!!!
Goals from Emma Gelsomino (3), Mary Hutchinson (2) , Sophia Jacques, T , Amy O’Reilly and Kate Warnock displayed our depth.
This game showed that we played as a team! Not an easy round to vote for the MVP.
Final score:
Bomber 58- Manly 20
Bombers victorious again! Remaining undefeated for our 2021 season!

We celebrated our win well into the night with a few tinnies at the Ladies Day and The Impy! (oh the glory days)
