U19 Div 1

Mid Season Check In; Men's Platinum Division

It has been an interesting start for the Blues this season given they have gone up to a new division and also have a fairly new young team. But under the coaching team of James Mason, Josh Toyer and Sam Power, the team will look to stay consistent and continue to improve to push for a finals campaign.

After a Grand Final appearance in Mens Div 1 last year, the Blues took on a new challenge this year, moving into the Platinum Division. The team looks significantly different this year with a number of new young recruits- all who have been impressive in taking on the challenge of the elevated division.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON SO FAR

There have been a number of highlights in the Blues team this season, starting off with the recruitment of some quality new players who have been extremely impressive in the first half of the season. The win against Parramatta in Round 8 was another highlight for the team, and showed them that they could match it with the top teams in the comp. Billy Lambert sitting a close second on the leading goal scorers tally for the comp is also up there as a highlight!

BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

The biggest challenge for the team will be staying consistent enough to win against the middle order teams in the comp in order for them to have a shot at finals.

KEY GAMES TO WATCH FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

Games against Southern Power (29th July), Balmain Tigers (8th July) & Penrith Rams (15th July) are must wins for the in order to make finals.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

Fraser Wells – captain of the team and leading the midfield group strongly going into the second half of the year.

Rohan Watson – young CHF who is finally finding his feet in the role and starting to kick some amazing goals.

Henry Wines – rugby convert who played AFL as a kid. Got some serious speed and positions himself really well to always find the footy.

Coach James Mason is excited to see how the team continues to build going into the second half of the season: Gritty start to the season with some tough knifes edge losses. Expect this young team to mature and put together a strong finish to the season and mount a do or die finals campaign”
