Mid Season Check In; Womens Div 3
In a new division and under the leadership of new Head Coach, Julia Mathers, the gems have burst out of the blocks winning the first 6 of 8 games this season.

The Womens Div 3 team, more fondly known as ‘Gems’, has had a total of 36 players represent the team in the first half of the season and have done so with great skill, enthusiasm and gems vibe. The girls have kicked plenty of goals, a few too many side goals (behinds) and been getting around their teammates and club mates every weekend. Head Coach, Julia, noted; ‘I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this great team and club.’

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON SO FAR
Of the 36 players who have played for the gems this year, 16 are new to the club and 7 have played their first ever game of AFL. 12 Gems players have also since gone on to play in a higher division at the club. Of particular note, Fin Menz and Arabella Price who are both new to the game and started the year in Gems, have gone on to debut for the Womens Premier Division team. The new players have taken to the club and the game like ducks to water and its been great to see them build on the skills and enjoy being a part of the team and club.
BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON
The top 4 teams in the womens div 3 comp will play finals and the competition between the teams is really coming down to the wire. The Gems are currently sitting in third position with points differential keeping them above fourth placed St George and 4 points off the second place Mac Uni Goannas. The prospect of going deep in a tight finals series is the goal for the gems now with 7 rounds to play for the regular season.
KEY GAMES TO WATCH IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON
The gems want to keep their winning ways against every opponent but will need to play to their full potential in round 13 against Mac Uni who previously beat them in a tight game, and St George in round 11 who they only narrowly beat at the start of the season.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON
Lorna Arknell is one to watch as the Gems leading goal scorer. Hannah Campbell has been laying tackles into anything that moves around the ruck and the speedsters Maddi Himbury and Olivia Alvarez have been bamboozling the opposition with their quick feet.
Head Coach, Julia Mathers, has been loving every minute of the season, and can’t wait for a big second half: “The infectious gems vibe has been building week on week, I cant wait to see what the second half of the season brings!”
