2024 SUANFC Awards Night

On Saturday 19th October, SUANFC came together for what was a fantastic night celebrating and acknowledging the hard work, efforts and achievements of all players, coaches, supporters and everyone in between!

After a long season 2024, players, coaches, supporters and everyone in betwee, exchanged their usual blue and gold playing kits for suits and dresses as they arrived at the stunning Albert Palais for the 2024 SUANFC Awards Night! The atmosphere was electric as the club gathered in the marble foyer and shared stories of the season that was, looking ahead to 2025 already. Throughout the night, the on-field achievements and contributions across the whole club were recognised with all 12 teams awarding their Best & Fairests and other team awards. The calibre of all award winners across all ages and divisions is certainly a credit to the efforts and work put in by all coaches across the club, and it was fantastic to see so many players recognised for the work they put in each week during training and game days.

Everyone waited with great anticipation during the night, for the eventual announcements of the highest club on-field awards- the Tim Driscoll Trophy for Men’s Premier Division Best & Fairest, and the Jen Lew Trophy for Women’s Premier Division Best & Fairest. It was a tightly contested battle in both the Mens & Womens competitions, with so many players having stand out seasons, however in the end it was Tim Barton who walked about with the Tim Driscoll Trophy and Saskia Johnson who recieved the Jen Lew Trophy.

In recognition of off-field contributions, the prestigious Cec & Bunty Club Person of the Year Award, the club’s highest off-field award, was awarded to James Mason for her tireless contribution to the club across multiple roles over a number of years. As a coach, a clubman, and SUANFC treusurer, James has spent countless hours ensuring everything is managed and run smoothly and efficiently, and he is passion for his team and the entire club shines through his active support and engagement. James embodies the club values, and actively sets a standard for those around him.

The evening also saw the announcement of two very deserving recipients of SUANFC Life Membership- Kyle Underwod and Ben Fitzpatrick have both earnt titles of club legend through their lasting contributions and dedication to the club, and were both awarded Life Membership at the Awards Night.

Fourteen additional club-wide awards were also given out in recognition of both on-field and off-field contributions and excellence, showcasing the best of a club full of not only quality footballers but quality people. It was certainly a night that celebrated the incredible culture of SUANFC, allowing everyone to celebrate everything that has been achieved and providing an opportunity to look forward to even bigger and better things in the years to come!

Congratulations to all Award winners across the club, and to all club members for another fantastic season in 2024!
