U19 Colts: Sydney AFL U19s Division 1
The Colts ended their season with a dominating performance against the lower-placed East Coast Eagles at No.1 Oval on Saturday.
Leading by 26 points at quarter time, the Colts stretched their lead out to 41 points by halftime on the back of some great team play which saw the side record 11 different goal kickers for the game.
The second half was much the same as the first as the Colts ran away with a comprehensive 76-point win.
Nick Bertino and Rowdy Friend were best afield for the Colts who fell one game short of 5th place.
Final Score: Sydney University 16.16 112 def. East Coast 5.6 36.
3rd Grade Blues: Sydney AFL Division 1
The Blues needed results to go their way on the weekend if they were any chance of finals football in 2016.
Against Pennant Hills, the Students started slowly, trailing the Demons at both quarter time and the main break.
The second half saw the Blues turn things around, holding the Demons goalless in the third quarter while booting 2.6 to lead by 4 points heading into the final quarter.
A further 4 goals from the Blues in the final quarter sealed a great victory at No.1 Oval, but despite the 4 points, the Blues fell short of finals football on percentage.
John Walsh and Chris Reichman were named in the best for the Blues, while Gabe Robbie booted 2 goals.
Final Score: Sydney University 7.16 58 def. Pennant Hills 5.10 40.
1st Grade Seniors: NEAFL
The SUANFC NEAFL side took on the 1st-placed Swans at Blacktown on Saturday afternoon. A win would cement 2nd spot for the Students while a loss would see them drop to 3rd.
Matt Rawlinson got the Students off to the perfect start with a goal inside the first 5 minutes of the game, before Jack Hiscox pegged on back for the Swans.
With minutes ticking down in the first quarter, Austin Lucy put the Students ahead with a clever snap from close range, as SUANFC went into the break up by a goal.
The second quarter saw just the 1 goal kicked, with the Swans evening scores by halftime thanks to Jake Brown’s first goal of the day.
Following the main break, the Swans edged ahead with the first goal of the third quarter before Kane Murphy brought the Students back onto level terms a few minutes later.
Despite Murphy’s effort, the Swans went on to kick 7 of the final 9 goals of the game, to run out 25-point winners over the Students who now take on Gold Coast in an elimination final this Saturday at Blacktown.
Tom Young (33 disposals, 1 goal) and Lewis Stevenson (30 disposals, 1 goal) were the two best for SUANFC, while the Swans’ Jordan Foote gathered 38 disposals and laid 10 tackles.

2nd Grade Reserves: Sydney AFL Premier Division
The Prems suffered a disappointing end to the 2016 season with a 71-point loss to Pennant Hills on Saturday.
From the first bounce, Pennant Hills dominated proceedings, kicking 4 goals to 1 in the first quarter to lead by 23 points.
A total of 10 goals were kicked in an entertaining second quarter, which saw the Demons extend their lead to 38 points by the main break.
The Demons seemed unstoppable coming out of halftime, kicking another 5 goals to 1, as they looked likely to record a triple digit victory.
The Students hung tough in the final quarter, with both sides kicking 2 majors each to round the regular season.
Tom Elkington was best afield for the Students with 3 goals, while Allister Clarke and Luke Vella continued their good form in the middle.
Final Score: Sydney University 8.1 49 def. by Pennant Hills 17.18 120.
6th Grade Plats: Sydney AFL Division 5
The Plats will play off for a spot in the Division 5 Grand Final this weekend following a comfortable win over UTS on Sunday.
Kicking the only 7 goals of the first half, the Plats raced out to an unassailable 43-point lead by the main break.
The Bats outscored the Plats in the second half, kicking 5 goals to 2 in the third quarter, before the Plats held off their opposition’s best efforts, to win by 4 goals.
Tomas Edwards, Curtis Judge and Manning Begg were the best for the Plats who now face UNSW in the Preliminary Final at Henson Park this Sunday afternoon.
Final Score: UTS 7.6 48 def. by Sydney University 10.12 72.
Sydney University Bombers (Women’s)
The Bombers locked in 2nd spot on the Women’s Premier Division ladder following a 31-point win over Newtown on Saturday.
Holding Newtown to just 3 goals for the game in an impressive defensive effort, the Bombers were simply too good for their opposition, leading the game from start to finish.
Rachel Stack booted 3 goals in a best-on-ground performance, while the familiar names of Nicola Barr and Amy Foo were also among the best.
Final Score: Sydney University 7.9 51 def. Newtown 3.2 20.
