SUANFC is excited to announce the Men’s U19’s (Colts) coaching team for 2021.
With five years of coaching experience under his belt, and a strong knowledge of SUANFC as a club, we are excited to announce Tim Spehr as the Colts Head Coach for 2021. Spehr takes on the Colts Head Coach role with a variety of coaching experience across both Mens and Womens programs. Spehr began his coaching career as Head Coach of the East Sydney Bulldogs U13 boys’ team and has remained involved with junior coaching since across several women’s junior teams, men’s junior teams and school teams. Most recently, Spehr worked with the SUANFC Men’s Premier Division team as an assistant midfield coach, also assisting with video analysis across the team.
Vice President of Men’s Football at SUANFC is thrilled with Tim’s appointment; “I am excited to have Tim join our Colts squad as Head Coach. His experience already in the Uni football system will bring a great understanding as to what it takes to develop young footballers to play the Student way. I know Tim to be a knowledgeable and committed coach who I am confident will continue the success of our Colts program.”
Filling out the rest of the Colts coaching team is Jon Dyster and Jeffrey Thomas. Jon and Jeff enter their third year coaching the Colts Div 2 side, as well as providing coaching support to the Colts Program as a whole, working with Head Coach Tim Spehr.
Prior to the Colts, Jon and Jeff coached together for almost 10 years at pathways club Newtown Swans JAFC.
Jon is a Level 2 Coach who was the inaugural coach of the first Colts Div 2 side in 2018. Before that he has had involvement in coaching representative junior teams as well as holding a number of roles in football administration with the Newtown Swans and Sydney Juniors AFL. Jon is also currently the Vice President of Men’s Football at SUANFC.
Jeff is a long-time coach having been the first club coach at Newtown Swans in their foundation year in 1999. Since that time Jeff has held the role of Coach of the SUANFC Reds, along with a number of years of coaching at youth level before joining the Colts program for the 2019 season.
When not coaching the Colts or injured Jon and Jeff play for the Sydney Uni Masters.
SUANFC is extremely excited to welcome Tim Spehr, and welcome back Jon Dyster and Jeff Thomas to the Colts coaching team for 2021- no doubt it will be another great year for the Colts program with three extremely qualified and experienced coaches at the helm.
