Sydney University AFL Pride Round

The Sydney University Australian National Football Club – proudly supporting beyondblue, is honoured to present the first ever Pride Round for Sydney AFL.

Pride Round is a celebration of the diversity which strengthens our game, as well as a vital opportunity to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues and reflect on what how we can eliminate homophobia from the sport we all love.

Sport has a unique ability to bring people together, and we hope that at least in some small way, we can help improve attitudes within our code, as well as encourage all sports clubs across Australia to take up the fight.

Whether you’re a player, umpire, supporter or just a legend from the local community who loves footy and equality, we’d love to see you down at Sydney University’s Number 1 Oval on June 17. On the field, Sydney University players will don rainbow socks, and our opponents, St George AFC, have kindly agreed to wear rainbow shoelaces in support of the initiative during the Premier Division Game.

Off-field, the festivities will take place at The Grandstand with a guest speaker, post-game presentations and plenty of food, drinks, and good vibes waiting to be had. All money raised on the day will be donated tobeyondblue with a focus on improving mental health in LGBTQIA+ communities.
