2018 Weekly Scoreboard – Round 1

NEAFL

“It was a really poor performance. That’s not going to be good enough any other week to get the four points.

“To Canberra’s credit, they were terrific. Their pressure was good, their effort was outstanding… and it looked like today they wanted it more than us.

“We got away with it, but it’s not something that anyone who wore a Sydney Uni guernsey today is proud of” – Tom Morrison.

Premier Division

“Super impressive start from our group Saturday. Playing last years Premiers on their home deck a daunting challenge.

“Strong theme this week about balance around the contest. Couldn’t have done that better.

“Made us very hard to play against. We turned them over constantly and scored from that giving our forwards really clean looks” – Tony Overall.

Premier Division Reserves

“A disappointing result to lose by 9 points but some positives to walk away with. A new side with a new coach, and a mix of those from last year, some graduated Colts, some returning from injury, some back after some time away and many new to the club.

“It just took time to gel. After getting behind early the team fought hard to stay on terms with a seasoned Pennant Hills outfit. A much better second half saw the team close the gap” – Mike Bassett.

Division One Blues

“A good win to start off the season against a tough opponent. We executed our game plan defensively and only allowed 1 goal through 3 quarters of footy. They came at us in the last quarter but credit to the guys for responding and icing the game” – Jim Beard.

Division Two Reds

“Reds played well today, won by around 6 goals. Excellent defensive pressure around the ground and some good ball movement” – Adam Clark.

Division Three Golds

“First half was tight & tough, but we took a 2 goal lead into the main break. At halftime we rested and discussed what needed to be done – the 3rd quarter the boys delivered, played No.1 the way you should ….. down the guts. The boys put the game to bed with a six or so goal quarter. The 4th we took our foot of of their throats but we still tallied equally to them. 5 first gamers today – welcome & learn the words to the team song as if we play like this consistently you will be singing it more than not” – Greg Nix.
