There was a mixture of déjà vu and relief as the final siren sounded at Blacktown International Sporting Center. SUANFC’s Division One U19s Colts again stood victorious against UNSW, lifting the 2023 Premiership trophy. This victory wasn’t just any win, though; it marked the end of a season that had been nothing short of perfect.

In a heart-stopping game that had spectators on the edge of their seats, the Colts clinched the premiership by just a single point. The final siren saw the scoreboard reading 9 goals and 8 behinds (62) to UNSW’s 9 goals and 7 behinds (61). One can only imagine the sense of relief and jubilation that filled the air as our Colts realised they had done it again, beating the same rival they had conquered in last year’s grand final.

Tim Sphere, the man responsible for moulding this unbeatable team, couldn’t contain his pride. “What a way to finish. What these young men have achieved is remarkable. To go an entire season undefeated is an amazing feat.” 

Archie Christie-Day, judged the best on ground, put up a performance that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. His prowess on the field was a key ingredient in achieving this momentous win. 

This victory not only reflects the individual brilliance of players like Archie but also echoes the depth of talent and teamwork that defines SUANFC’s U19s Colts. It is their synergy and unbreakable spirit that have guided them through an undefeated season, culminating in a premiership win.
