Mid Season Check In; Mens Div 3

New Head Coach, Tony Edser, has taken the reigns of the Mens Div 3 ‘Golds’ side this year, and they have had some thrilling matchups and close encounters in the first half of the season

The Men’s Division 3 ‘Golds’ team have had mixed results in the first half of the season, with a young fairly new team they have been finding their feet and have certainly been improving with each week. The Men’s Division 3 competition is a tough field this year, and our Golds have found themselves facing strong opponents, coming away with some thrilling wins as well as excrutiatingly close losses.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SEASON SO FAR

The Round 8 match vs Newtown at Oval No.1 has been a highlight for the team so far. It was a nail biter the whole way, but Newtown seemed to be getting away in the third quarter and the team went into 3/4 time with Newtown holding a significant 20pt lead. The Students really got up and about in the fourth quarter though to take away the win in the end!

BIGGEST CHALLENGE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

The biggest challenge the Golds will continue to face is the high turnover of players each week- putting a different team on the field each week makes it a challenge to find that consistency.

KEY GAMES TO WATCH IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

In order to stay in the running to make a finals campaign, the Golds will be looking at the next two matches (vs Manly and then vs Newtown) as must wins. The Golds have fought to get the win over Newtown the past two meetings, but are yet to come up against Manly this season.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON

Oliver Cunningham, a new recruit this year, has been impressive to watch and will certainly be a player to keep your eye on in the second half of this season with his impressive hands and great footy IQ.

Head Coach, Tony Edser, is confident his young team has what it takes: “We are a young side who are learning and developing well as a team. We’ve lost a couple close encounters but I am confident we can make the finals with a fit and dedicated team”

Men Div 3 play their next match on Saturday 17th June, 8.30am @ Oval No.1 vs Manly. View their full fixture and ladder details HERE
