SUANFC is pleased to announce that Tom Morrison will be taking the role of SUANFC Senior Men’s Coach for the 2021 season. Morrison’s resumé speaks for itself, and the club is excited to have him continue in his senior coaching position following the 2020 season where he led the Men’s Premier Division team to victory.
Morrison has built up a strong 9 years of coaching experience, first coaching in 2011 as the Colts Assistant Coach at Claremont FC in WA. While coaching, Morrison continued to play in the WAFL where he was known for his toughness, game sense and will to succeed- all qualities that he brings across in his coaching. In 2013, Morrison joined Sydney Uni and took on the role of Premier Division Head Coach where he managed his first senior program. Morrison has held a number of coaching roles within SUANFC, Sydney AFL and Sydney Swans Academy over the years, where he has proven himself as a personable and highly knowledgeable coach who is an invaluable asset to any club or team.
Tom is well known and respected around SUANFC and SUSF and, having been embedded in the senior coaching teams of SUANFC since joining in 2013, has an unmatched understanding of the deep complexities of SUANFC and the local footballing landscape. With the reputation of always going above and beyond for the athletes, coaching team and club, SUANFC is delighted to sign Morrison on for another year as Senior Men’s Coach.
With Morrison at the helm of the Senior Men’s Program, SUANFC is also excited to announce the re-appointment of Lindsay Scown as Senior Men’s Assistant Coach and the appointment of Oscar Gibbons in the role of Men’s Reserves Coach.
Scown came to SUANFC following the 2019 season and took on the role of NEAFL Senior Assistant Coach (Development), before moving into the role of Senior Assistant Coach in the Men’s Premier Division side for the 2020 season. Scown brings with him a wealth of experience in developing young footballers and is an excellent addition to the Men’s Senior Coaching team. Scown has a number of years of coaching experience in the Men’s Premier Division competition at both East Coast and Inner West, and even after just one season with SUANFC has already cemented himself within the club and has made a lasting impression as an extremely educated, well liked and respected coach who is an asset to the coaching team.
Gibbins will move into his new role of Men’s Reserves Coach for the 2021 season, coming from his previous role within SUANFC as Colts Head Coach. Oscar came to SUANFC in 2015 from Glebe Juniors, and has played in the colts, Men’s Division 1, 2 & 3 and Reserves sides. Oscar took up coaching in 2015 and has coached in the Independent Schools Comp at Knox Grammar, within Junior Football at Canada Bay Glebe, and within the Colts program at SUANFC. Most recently, Gibbins coaching role saw him overlooking the colt’s program as Head Coach, and with a particular focus on skill development and leadership, he has seen playing numbers rapidly increase within the program as well as ensuring on field success. SUANFC is excited to be able to promote such a talented coach from within its own ranks to Men’s Reserves coach.
With the extremely talented and well-respected coaching team of Tom Morrison, Lindsay Scown and Oscar Gibbins at the forefront, the club is extremely excited for the 2021 season and for continued success in the Senior Men’s program.
