You can find out everything you need to know regarding Sydney University’s finals series below, with 3 of our 6 remaining sides playing off for a spot in their respective grand finals this weekend:
SATURDAY
NEAFL vs Canberra Demons @ Blacktown International Sportspark, 12pm
Our NEAFL boys welcome Canberra to Blacktown for the second time in three weeks for their elimination final. The Students will be hoping history repeats itself, with the Students claiming a 37-point win in their last encounter with the Demons. The winner will go onto play the Sydney Swans for a chance to make the 2018 Grand Final.
Premier Division Reserves vs Pennant Hills @ Blacktown International Sportspark, 5pm
The Premier Division Reserves squad takes on Pennant Hills in a 1st vs 2nd preliminary final clash at Blacktown on Saturday afternoon. The winner of this one will go straight into the Grand Final, while the loser will have another chance the following week to cement their spot in the big dance. Results so far this season suggest a cracker game, with each side winning 1 of the 2 games between the pair this year.
SUNDAY
Premier Division vs Manly-Warringah @ Blacktown International Sportspark, 3pm
Following a tough loss at the hands of UNSW/ES, Premier Division will play a do-or-die clash against the Wolves this Sunday afternoon. The Students have enjoyed two wins over the Wolves this season, but will have to be weary of the Wolves and their star players such as former Students’ Lachlan Kilpatrick and James Brain.
Blues vs North Shore @ Blacktown International Sportspark, 9am
The Blues will also put their grand final hopes on the line this Sunday at BISP, taking on North Shore from 9am. The Students suffered a 3-point loss at the hands of Pennant Hills last weekend, but will be raring to go come Sunday morning. The winner of this game, will advance straight to the Grand Final.
Reds vs UNSW/ES @ Henson Park, 2.30pm
Following a weekend off, the Reds, who hold a second-chance, will playoff against UNSW/ES for a spot in this year’s Division 2 Grand Final. Following an impressive regular season which saw the squad finish top of the ladder, the Reds will be looking to cement their spot in this year’s Grand Final.
Golds vs Pennant Hills @ Henson Park, 9am
The Golds enjoyed a great win last weekend in their elimination final against UNSW/ES, and will now face Pennant Hills in what is set to be a cracker of a game. The last encounter between the two sides came just a month ago, with the Golds suffering a 3-point loss in a nail-biting clash, but with the boys in some great form, anything could happen this Sunday morning.
Colts Division One Eliminated
Following a loss to North Shore last weekend, the Colts Division 1 season unfortunately comes to an end. We congratulate all the boys on their efforts throughout the season, and look forward to seeing what they can do in 2019!
