Weekly Review: Women’s Grand Final

The Bombers took on UNSW in the Women’s Premier Division Grand Final on Saturday at Blacktown.

The first quarter saw the Bombers shock the minor premiers, as the last remaining SUANFC side in 2016 raced out to a 14-point lead by the first break.

As expected, the Stingrays fought their way back into the contest, kicking 3 goals to 1 in the second quarter to reduce the margin to just 2 points.

The Bombers were held scoreless in the third quarter as the Stingrays kicked further ahead with 2 majors.

Unfortunately for the Bombers, the Stingrays kicked 3 goals to zip in the final quarter to claim the 2016 Women’s Premier Division Premiership.

The familiar names of Rachael Stack, Nicola Barr and Alice Wood were named best afield in the 27-point loss.

Final Score: UNSW 8.3 51 def. Sydney University 3.6 24.
