The Growthbuilt Sydney University Australian National Football Club is seeking young and enthusiastic U/19 footballers of all playing levels to join NSW’s biggest AFL Club for the 2018 season. Our Club is building a Colts program that will provide a solid foundation for young players to progress through from junior ranks to senior football. With experience in operating successful NEAFL and Premier Division programs, backed up by a strong presence in all senior grades, Sydney Uni caters for all levels and is the Club to play and enjoy your football.
For the first time in the Club’s history, SUANFC will field two U/19s sides, catering for both aspiring and social footballers.
Benefits of playing within SUANFC’s Colts Program include:
- Two teams across two divisions
- Elite pathways and the opportunity to participate in football at all skill levels
- Elite preseason program
- On campus training
- Scholarship opportunities
- $100 rebate for high school students as part of the NSW Government’s Active Kids Rebate Program
The Club is excited to announce the recent appointment of Joey Britton as senior coach of the Colts program for 2018.
Joey, an AFL level-two accredited coach, has been overseeing and developing the AFL program at Knox Grammar School for the last four years. With a particular focus on skill development and leadership, he has seen playing numbers rapidly increase as well as ensuring on field success. Joey has also previously been the Head Coach at SUANFC junior-affiliated Club, Glebe Greyhounds.
Joey spoke of his excitement and his passion for coaching with The Students in 2018.
“I am looking forward to getting back into coaching at a Club level, and developing some long term success with the Colts program,” said Britton.
“Sydney University is a proud club and I am looking forward to the challenge.”
Assisting Joey in his first season of coaching at SUANFC is Tom Harvey, an accomplished junior footballer from Melbourne and Premier Division player at North Shore. Tom worked with Joey at Knox Grammar as the First XVIII Coach and also at the Swans Academy as a skills development coach, where he received high praise for his focus on teamwork and fitness.
Speaking with SUANFC, Tom spoke of his desire to work with a core group of young footballers.
“I am looking forward to developing my coaching and trying to get the best out of a young group of players,” said Harvey.
Preseason training has begun, with many eager players already joining training sessions, assisted by Premier Division players and coaches, alongside our newly appointed Colts coaches.
