SUANFC is glad to announce the appointment of Daniel Miller and Jim Beard as the Club’s Blues and Reds coaches for 2017. Miller arrived at SUANFC in 2012, promptly showing his skill and ability, winning the runner up best and fairest in his debut season for the Division 2 Blues. He went on to win premierships in division 2 Blues in 2013 and 2014 before also playing a part in the division 1 Blues’ triumph in 2015. His 2016 season was cruelly cut short at Trumper Park when his ACL was damaged requiring a knee reconstruction. In 2017, Miller takes the reins of the Division 1 Blues from Sam Power and will be looking to return the team to finals football and another shot at a flag for the Club. Beard arrived at SUANFC in 2015 and was a member of the successful division 3 Reds Grand Final winning side. He proved himself from the outset as a tough inside midfielder who was prepared to put his body on the line for the team. In 2016 he assisted Trent Millsteed coaching the promoted Reds team into division 2. In 2017, Beard takes on the head coaching role and will be looking to find a new level of consistency with the team and catapult them back into September action. Along with Miller and Beard’s appointments, Brent Pollock will move into the Golds Senior Coach role after coaching the Plats in 2016. Pollock is a man that requires no introduction. He joined SUANFC in 2006 and since then has played over 100 games for the club. He won his first premiership with the Reds in 2009, a feat repeated in the successful 2015 Reds campaign. In 2016 Pollock stepped up in his first role as coach and led a rampaging division 5 Plats team into finals and agonosingly close to a debut Grand Final appearance for the side. Miller, Beard and Pollock follow the recently appointed Premier Division Coach Tony Overall and NEAFL Senior Coach Tom Morrison as the newest members of SUANFC’s coaching ranks for 2017. Both a Platinums and Colts coach will be appointed in the coming weeks. |
