The NEAFL, Blues and Plats enjoyed success in Round 15, while the Bombers suffered their first loss in 2016.
6th Grade Plats: Sydney AFL Division 5
The Plats have kept their finals hopes alive with a 13-point win away to Penrith on Saturday.
Trailing at halftime, the Students dug deep in the third quarter, kicking 5 goals to 1, to set up one of their best wins in 2016.
Tim Lay booted 6 goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Phi Vo was named among the best for the second week running.
Final Score: Penrith 10.9 69 def. by Sydney University 13.4 82.
U19 Colts: Sydney AFL U19s Division 1
With just 17 players available, the Colts went down to St George by 46 points at Olds Park on Saturday.
Trailing at every break, the Colts fought hard with true student spirit, but the task was just too big.
Henry Lamshed, Sam Lawson and Michael Nettheim each kicked 2 goals, while Andreas Apostolou and Jack Fox continued their good form.
Final Score: St George 16.7 103 def. Sydney University 8.9 57.
5th Grade Golds: Sydney AFL Division 4
The Golds fixture against Macquarie University was cancelled due to rainfall in the build up to the game.
The Golds are the first game on at No.1 Oval this weekend, taking on Southern Power at 9am.
2nd Grade Reserves: Sydney AFL Premier Division
The Prems traveled to Kanebridge Oval on Saturday to take on top of table East Coast.
The Eagles could only manage 2 goals in the first quarter, as the Students matched the Eagles around the ground.
Unable to capitalize in the first quarter, the Students fell away in the second quarter as the Eagles booted 4 goals to zip to open up a 43-point lead at halftime.
The third quarter was much the same with the Eagles continuing to dominate at both ends of the ground. The Students finally kicked their first 2 goals of the game in the third, but it was East Coast who increased their lead heading into the final break following their 6-goal quarter.
Determined not to let East Coast run away with an easy win, the Students fought hard in the final quarter, kicking 2 goals to the Eagles 3.
Young players Will Gowers, Mitch Mahady and Matt Vicic were best afield for the Students, while Sam Crichton was the only multiple goal kicker with 2 majors.
Final Score: East Coast 15.13 103 def. Sydney University 4.8 32.
4th Grade Reds: Sydney AFL Division 2
The Reds followed the Prems at Penrith on Saturday, taking on the 2nd placed Rams.
Kicking 6 goals to zip in the first quarter, the Rams ran out to a comfortable lead at quarter time.
The Students put up a fight in the second and third quarters, controlling stages of the game, without much luck on the scoreboard.
The final quarter saw the Rams finish strongly, kicking another 6 goals to zip, as they ran out 108-point winners over the Students.
Adam Clark, Stephen Lloyd and Matt Webber were the best afield in the tough loss.
Final Score: Penrith 18.18 128 def. Sydney University 2.6 18.
1st Grade Seniors: NEAFL
The SUANFC NEAFL side knocked off second-placed NT Thunder in Darwin on Saturday.
Trailing at both quarter-time and halftime, the Students outworked the Thunder on their home deck and in typical Darwin conditions in the second half.
After kicking 3 goals in the first quarter, Darren Ewing was held to 1 goal for the remainder of the game thanks to numerous defensive efforts by Jarrod Irving.
In the middle, Tom Young and Kane Murphy shared 70 disposals between them, while Austin Lucy kicked 2 goals, collected 24 disposals and laid 7 tackles.
Jake Derickx (3 goals), Matt Rawlinson (26 disposal) and Will Sierakowski (2 goals, 19 disposals) were also named in the best.
Final Score: NT Thunder 11.14 80 def. by Sydney University 13.13 91.

3rd Grade Blues: Sydney AFL Division 1
The Blues got themselves back on the winners list following a dominating 120-point win over East Coast on Saturday.
After a 8-goal first quarter on the weekend, the Students weren’t finished yet, kicking another 7 goals in the second quarter.
Leading by 89 points at halftime, the Students continued to dominate in the third, kicking 6 goals to lead by an unassailable 114-point lead at the final break.
East Coast fought back in the final quarter, but were still unable to outscore an in-form Blues side.
Andrew Holmes, Liam Blue, Nicholas Lloyd and Lachlan McKendrick each kicked 3 goals, while Clinton Wells booted 4.
Luther Canute and Sacha Willesee were strong on-ball all day.
Final Score: East Coast 5.4 34 def. by Sydney University 23.16 154.
Sydney University Bombers (Women’s)
The Bombers lost their first game of 2016 against rivals UNSW at Blacktown on Saturday.
Trailing by 17 points at the final break, the Bombers kicked 2 goals to zip in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough as the Stingrays moved to equal 1st in the Women’s Premier Division.
Sera Kaukiono, Rachael Stack, Jennifer Lew and Alice Wood (1 goal) were among the best for the Bombers.
Final Score: UNSW 4.3 27 def. Sydney University 3.7 25.
