Both Robert Goodall and Richard Quinn were awarded SUANFC Life Membership at last Friday’s Driscoll Medal Presentation.
Robert, inducted by close friend and former Club GM Brett Pettersen, first joined SUANFC in 2004, and has played over 150 games in the hoops.
Over his years at the Club, ‘Irish’ took on many different roles and responsibilities including player, coach, operations manager, committee member, umpire, photographer, Councillor of USSF (Foundation), along with many more.
Irish has only been the recipient of a number of accolades including Clubman of the Year (2007), Carter/Ramus Best in Finals (2005) and three premierships won between 2005 and 2010.
Robert’s current role overseeing the SUANFC Foundation has heralded unprecedented results, with the Club’s first perpetual scholarship (The Harvey Gordon Sporting Scholarship) established through funding raised from Robert’s efforts.
Along Irish, Richard Quinn was inducted by close friend and former Club President Roger Down, after first joining SUANFC in 1965.
Playing across 15 seasons, Quinn played over 300 games for the Club, including a 5-year stretch as captain.
A member of the Club’s first premiership side, Quinn participated in seven inter-varsity competitions, where he captained five of the Uni’s sides (a record to this day).
Off the field, Quinn spent thirteen years on the Club’s committee, including 5 years as President.
The Club is delighted to have two such outstanding characters awarded life membership.
